A man has died after he was found unconscious at the scene of a possible hit and run in Taree on Sunday. Passers-by on Wingham Road, near Cedar Party Road, were concerned for the man’s welfare and called emergency services around 7pm. The man, in his 50s, was found unconscious, suffering serious injuries. He was treated by paramedics before being taken to Manning Base Hospital in a serious condition, where he later died. Initial inquiries by specialist investigators from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation suggest he may have been the victim of a hit and run. About 9.20pm (Sunday 23 May 2021), a 39-year-old man had parked his car near the intersection of Marion Street and Wigram Street, when he was hit by a vehicle that did not stop. The man fell to the ground with severe injuries to his legs.
