Faribault s Nate Rost cracked a two run home run and was very efficient on the mound in the Lakers 6-0 win tonight over the Webster Sox at Bell Field in Faribault.
Rost threw just 68 pitches in 6 innings with 5 strikeouts, 1 walk, 4 hits allowed. 47 of the 68 pitches were strikes and he 15 first pitch strikes of 22 batters faced.
Joey Grote finished the final three innings not allowing a hit with 6 strikeouts, 1 walk. He threw 53 pitches, 34 strikes with 7 of 11 first pitch strikes.
One of the highlights of the game was seeing the return of Shane Gunderson playing on the diamond. Without a doubt one of the best athletes ever to play at Faribault High School. His senior season he led the Big Nine Conference in rushing in football, scoring in basketball and hitting in baseball.
Huskies Win in Triple-Overtime After Big Fourth Quarter Comeback
The Owatonna boys lacrosse team held a wild, mosh pit of a celebration following their 10-9 triple-overtime win against Northfield Wednesday, but not before some harrowing times before that. The Huskies trailed by three goals in the fourth quarter and were still down a goal with just over a minute to go. Senior Fletcher Schulz scored the sudden-victory winner with 2:24 left in the third OT. The Huskies go to top-seed Lakeville North Friday, June 4 for a 6 pm game on Kat Kountry 105.
It was an historic night in Owatonna with both the girls and boys hosting a playoff game at the same time. Each was the fourth seed, hosting the fifth seed. The girls game was also a thriller with Century prevailing 11-10. The OHS girls also faced a three-goal deficit late and rallied to the tie the game. But Century responded quickly.
