Only half of the appointments at Springfield’s pop-up vaccination centre remain available as newly eligible residents heed the Queensland Government’s call to get the jab.
Queensland Health confirmed the clinic, which opened at Springfield Tower this weekend as part of a wider vaccine blitz, still had a number of spots available as of Sunday.
A total 626 vaccines, however, have been administered since the clinic launched on June 5.
Operated under Mater Health, the free community clinic will remain open for about six weeks with plans to administer a total of 18,000 vaccinations by mid-July.
It comes after Health Minister Yvette D’Ath announced the widening of eligibility on Thursday, calling for aged care and disability workers, other frontline healthcare workers and people aged 40 – 49 to come forward and roll up their sleeves.
The Government has issued a warning to people attempting to just turn up without an appointment at one of the 18 Covid-19 vaccination hubs opening this weekend.

In response, DDHS will continue to reinstall testing sites across the region.
“COVID-19 testing has been, and continues to be, available at any of our hospital emergency departments, and at our Charlton BP Truckstop drive-through testing site, open 8.30am to 4pm seven days a week,” the spokeswoman said.
“We have also re-established our Baillie Henderson Hospital pop-up drive-through testing site, which will be open from 8.30am to 4pm until Monday, 11 January.”
In Warwick, an additional Locke St drive-through site was opened earlier this week as was one in front of the Stanthorpe Hospital in response to positive wastewater fragments.
At the time of reporting, there had been no further information revealed about where the positive wastewater fragment originated from.
