Friday in Sydney was big and a little wayward from the east and south. Then the wind turned offshore, and Saturday’s sun rose over long, thick, clean lines. When this happens, small groups of people head to the area’s ledges and slabs. But very few of them get a wave like this one.
Photographer Hayley Alderton almost wasn’t there for this beautiful ride. “I was meant to go to the Blue Mountains that day,” she laughs. “My parents were going to be visiting from WA. But the Covid stopped that. I”m mates with Ben Bagley and he called and said ‘Let’s go!’ So we did. I was lucky I got a ride out with Dylan Longbottom on his ski, that made the entry easy.
