Morris County s gentle giant Deputy Clerk John Wojtaszek dies at 71 John Wojtaszek, the gentle giant who served as mayor of Rockaway Township before helping to oversee elections at the Morris County Clerk s Office, died Tuesday. He was 71. A career educator, Wojtaszek taught at Thomas Jefferson Middle School and served as president of the Rockaway Borough Education Association. Always active in the community, he was a past president of the Rockaway Lions Club and a member of the New Jersey Council for History Education.  But he may have been known best for his political acumen as both an elected leader and a trusted mentor for others. He was elected to the Rockaway Township Committee and served a term as mayor in 1984.
