Minnesota State High School League Searching For Officials The Minnesota State High School League is holding an Officiating Recruitment Forum on July 28th as they continue to search for officials for the upcoming high school year. Officials are needed across all sports including Adapted Floor Hockey, Adapted Soccer, Adapted Softball, Baseball, Basketball, Dance Team, Football, Girls Gymnastics, Hockey,  Lacrosse Boys, Lacrosse Girls, Soccer,  Softball Girls, Swimming and Diving, Synchronized Swimming Girls, Track and Field, Volleyball Girls, and Wrestling. Cathedral Activities Director Emmett Keenan is also an official. He says some sports have to be spread out over a number of days so the same officials can work all the games.

Oklahoma s Emma LaPinta named Big 12 co-Scholar Athlete of the Year in gymnastics The junior from Frisco, TX, is the 14th Sooner to win the league s most prestigious academic-athletic honor Author: Oklahoma junior Emma LaPinta was recognized for her commitment in the classroom as the 2021 Big 12 Gymnastics Co-Scholar Athlete of the Year, the conference office announced Wednesday. A native of Frisco, TX, LaPinta is the first Sooner in program history to receive the award, which was created by the Big 12 prior to the 2012-13 academic year. LaPinta shared the honor with junior Alexis Vasquez of Denver. LaPinta, a communications major, boasts a 4.0 GPA and 90 percent participation in 2021. She is a two-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team honoree (2020, 2021) and a 2019 Academic All-Rookie selection. LaPinta is also a two-time WCGA Scholastic All-American.

Swartzentruber Earns Second Team All-Big Ten Honors

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State women’s gymnastics senior Jenna Swartzentruber claimed second team All-Big Ten laurels, the conference announced Wednesday. Swartzentruber is picking up All-Big Ten honors for a second time in her career after making her initial appearance on the team in 2019. This season, she has earned four event titles, three on uneven bars and one on balance beam. The Centerburg, Ohio, native has tied her career mark of 9.925 on bars twice. She paces the Buckeyes with a national qualifying score of 9.906 on bars, which ranks 21st in the country and fourth in the Big Ten. She was also the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award recipient for the Buckeyes. The award recognizes individuals who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. These student-athletes must also be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting.
