When the artist learned that Black women were two times more likely to die from cervical cancer than other women, she teamed up with Cerving Confidence, a collaboration between the Black Women’s Health Imperative (BWHI) and Hologic’s Project Health Equality to encourage Black women to schedule annual wellness exams as a way to protect themselves against the disease. It s my ultimate goal to inspire women to be able to do that and to be confident, and to really embody what it is to have self love and take care of yourself, she tells Well+Good. There s so much power in that, and it s time to change the narrative and for there to longer be this disparity.
