Women s club plans donation to GRPD

Green River Star -   May 6, 2021 The Woman’s Club of Rock Springs GFWC met on April 20 at White Mountain Library. This was the group’s last working meeting until September. The group will have an evening Installation of Officers dinner in May. Debra Soule spoke for Youth Art Month. She brought selections of student art which were taken to the General Federation of Woman’s Clubs – Wyoming on April 24 for the state convention. The artwork will be displayed with artwork from across the state and prizes will be awarded. Soule will host a reception for the artists and their families on May 11, at the Fine Arts Center i.

Woman s Club of Rock Springs Raises Money for Benches

ROCK SPRINGS  The Woman’s Club of Rock Springs GFWC has been busy collecting money for benches to be installed around the columbarium at Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery as a Community Impact Project. The Woman’s Club set a goal of $750. This goal was met and a check was presented to Rock Springs Mayor Tim Kaumo on April 27. Rock Springs is no stranger to illness. The Rheumatic Fever School Prevention Program, which was introduced by Woman’s Club of Rock Springs (WCRS) President Mary D. Bunning in 1958, stands as an example of community unity and the difference that a group of individuals can make during a public health threat. With less than 20,000 cases in the United States in present day, the rheumatic fever was a common disease in the 1940s and remained a feared disease through the 1950s. Rheumatic fever is characterized by inflammatory lesions that are distributed throughout connective tissues in various parts of the body such as the heart, joints, blood vessels, skin and brain.
