Woman’s Hour Drama are often three words to chill the heart of a Radio 4 listener, and sometimes its presenter, too. Emma Barnett is following in the footsteps of her predecessors, Jenni Murray and Jane Garvey, in sounding weary every time she introduces it.
The drama is usually unrelated to the rest of Woman’s Hour and yet takes up 15 minutes of its allotted time. That’s a quarter of the programme and means that Woman’s Hour is actually only 45 minutes long. A small thing, sure, but this false advertising has been annoying me for at least 10 years.
