Gardaí have today launched the Lock It Or Lose It campaign as a response to an increase in bike theft.
They also revealed that 7,000 bikes have been stolen across the country since the start of last year.
But is this campaign a good enough response?

Is Lock It Or Lose It A Good Enough Response To Rise In Bike Theft?
Sioux Lookout OPP are recruiting volunteers to be part of their Auxiliary Policing Program.
The Auxiliary Policing Program is a group of fully trained, unpaid volunteers who work alongside OPP officers in various programs and campaigns.
“Auxiliary members are called to help with campaigns for public safety, traffic awareness, as well as community outreach programs, regular patrol with frontline officers,” explains Constable Andrea Degagne with the Sioux Lookout OPP. “They can also be called in to help with RIDE programs, the ‘Lock It Or Lose It’ campaigns, also marine and snow mobile patrol.”
Police are looking to add seven Sioux Lookout volunteers, two in Pickle Lake, two in North Caribou Lake First Nation and one in Wapekeka First Nation.
