Five Queen’s Awards go to Gloucestershire businesses in 2021 From a truffle-hunting business to a mechanical engineering firm, from an innovative community music-based charity to a purveyor of beautiful fabrics, Gloucestershire has landed five Queen’s Awards. It is regarded as one of the pinnacles of achievement and a much-lauded badge of honour, and five Queen’s Awards have gone to Gloucestershire businesses and charities in 2021. Four awards have been given in the international trade category, with one – for the ever-innovative The Music Works charity – for promoting opportunity. The currently Cheltenham-based charity works to transform young lives through music, and is joined on the podium this year by TruffleHunter Ltd, ALS Mechatronic Ltd, Ocere Limited and Alice Caroline Ltd.

Boohoo set to open DC in Wellingborough | Logistics Manager

Online fashion group Boohoo is setting up its new distribution centre in Wellingborough to service its Nasty Gal, Karen Millen, Coast, Oasis and Warehouse brands. The ecommerce retailer has taken Exeter Property Group’s 287,634 sq ft warehouse on the Park Farm Industrial Estate, which was previously occupied by House of Fraser. Boohoo intends to finish work on an extended warehouse capacity in April, creating 1000 jobs in its first year of operation. The House of Fraser distribution centre closed amidst much controversy in April 2019 with the loss of some 300 jobs and has since lain empty. It was let to House of Fraser at a rent of £4 per sq ft and was initially run on an £85 million contract with DHL until 2016 before the contract was given to XPO. Exeter gave XPO a year to land another contract and while it was unable to do so, the 3PL introduced Boohoo
