On Sunday morning, Areyelle Yarbough stood before a virtual congregation and sang before her father took to the pulpit for Easter service.
Hours later, the 32-year-old Alabama A&M University graduate, master’s degree student and manager in the Jefferson County Department of Revenue, lay on the pavement in Birmingham’s Patton Park, an innocent bystander unresponsive from an apparent gunshot wound to the head.
Yarbrough was caught in crossfire as hundreds, if not more than a thousand, packed the park to celebrate the holiday.
