A married Vietnamese couple have tested positive for the novel coronavirus after entering Vietnam illegally from Cambodia.
D.D.Q., 58, and his wife – 52-year-old T.T.B. – traveled from Phnom Penh to the Mekong Delta province of An Giang via the Long Binh Border Gate on Tuesday.
The two could not present necessary documents required for entry into Vietnam and asked on-duty border guard officers for permission to be quarantined in the country.
They were later brought to a quarantine camp in An Phu District, An Giang Province.

Senior Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Van Nam, deputy head of the Department of Drug and Crime Prevention in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang, was summoned to the provincial Command of Border Guard to explain on the large amount of undocumented goods found at his house s and his relative’s residence earlier.
The case has raised public criticism in An Giang since February 27, when it was first discovered by the provincial police.

Police in An Giang uncovered
Manh is the 42-year-old director of Gia Thinh Production and Trading Co. Ltd. in Chau Phu B Ward in the province’s Chau Doc City.
According to police findings, a group of local businessmen who had been producing and trading counterfeit goods were worried that Noi’s aggressive campaign against social evils, drugs, crime, and other illegal rackets, such as smuggling and counterfeiting, would affect their businesses.

A province-wide ban on mobile karaoke services as well as food shipment to quarantine centers has been ordered by the leader of An Giang Province in southern Vietnam after the locale logged five new cases of COVID-19 transmission.
The direction was stated on Tuesday by Nguyen Thanh Binh, chairman of the An Giang People’s Committee, during his visit to COVID-19 prevention facilities, including control posts along the bank of the Binh Di River in Long Binh Town and the quarantine wards at Luong The Vinh High School in An Phu Town.
