Marine Corps Reserve Promotes Methuen Interim Police Lt. Ferreira to Sgt. Major, Highest Enlisted Rank

Methuen resident and interim Police Lt. Eric Ferreira has been promoted to Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps Reserve, the highest rank which an enlisted member of the military may earn.
Mayor Neil Perry said Ferreira was hired by the Methuen Police Department in July, 2012, and currently serves as interim lieutenant within the Office of Professional Standards and Accreditation. It is a new role created to address concerns resulting from a recent police department audit.
“Eric is a consummate professional and a highly respected leader among his peers. He is truly deserving of this honor and the city is very proud of his accomplishments,” Perry said in a statement. ....

Hampton police Lt. Tom Gudaitis retires after 40 years

HAMPTON – Lt. Tom Gudaitis retired this week from the Hampton Police Department, after spending the past 40 years of his life serving the community.
“For me to list every duty he’s been assigned during his years here would be impossible,” said Hampton Police Chief David Hobbs. “He’s just has a wealth of knowledge and a unique set of skills. He’s a true professional with a great attitude and work ethic, and he’s a tremendous leader.”
Gudaitis started at Hampton PD in 1981 as a part-time officer, while he was still in the Air Force after being stationed at Pease Air Force Base in Newington. When he retired from the military in 1989 after more than 13 years with the service, he decided he liked police work and became a full-time patrolman in Hampton. ....
