Since becoming the first Southeast Asian country to legalise medical marijuana in 2018, Thailand has ploughed ahead on the extraction, distillation and marketing of cannabis oil – eager to capitalise on the multibillion-dollar industry.

KUALA LUMPUR: The number of staff overseeing halal certification-related matters should be increased to enable them to cope with certification duties in Malaysia and abroad. Fiqh Fatwa, Food and Contemporary Consumerism expert Associate Professor Datuk Dr Mohd Izhar Ariff Mohd Kashim said this would not only empower the halal-certification process but also allow for better monitoring and enforcement.
