His owner, trainer and jockey will be different, but the scenery will be the same for Harpers First Ride when the defending champion returns to the site of his biggest victory in the historic $250,000 Pimlico Special (G3) Friday at Pimlico Race Course.
The 51st running of the Pimlico Special, on the eve of the 146th Preakness Stakes (G1), is one of six stakes, four graded, worth $1 million in purses on a spectacular 14-race card headlined by the 97th running of the $250,000 Black-Eyed Susan (G2) for 3-year-old fillies.

Cox s Kentucky Derby journey continues at Fair Grounds
Cox is set to have the clear leader of his 3-year-old contingent,
Mandaloun, run in the
Louisiana Derby (G2) on Saturday at Fair Grounds. The colt already has 52 Derby points after winning the Risen Star (G2) on Feb. 13.
Cox noted on Tuesday he has been encouraged with the progress of Mandaloun, as well as the colt s path to the Kentucky Derby.
“He was four weeks back to the Risen Star from the Lecomte,” Cox said during an National Thoroughbred Racing Association conference call with media on Tuesday. “We’re coming back five weeks to the Louisiana Derby now. If all goes well we’ll have six weeks before the Kentucky Derby… I’m good with six weeks between.”
