St. Antony’s Church, Sasthan in Udupi district, marked its centenary celebration on Wednesday with a thanksgiving mass and felicitation programme. The mass was concelebrated by Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi, with Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangaluru, and others.
Mr. Saldanha said, “Jubilee means year of freedom. It is not just an outside celebration it involves internal purity also. We need to live the faith which was sowed years ago,” he said and also released the prayer book published in memory of centenary celebration.
Mr. Lobo released a hymn book on the occasion. Soon after the mass, a felicitation programme was organized.

Karkala, Jan 28: Attur Feast 2021 made for a remarkable spiritual and devotional feast. Attur pilgrim is for saint devotees who walked into the holy place in peace and received blessings. Due to pandemic a lot of changes were put in place so as to control the huge crowd. This year unlike previous years instead of the feast being for five days, novena and the feast were celebrated together within 11 days starting from January 18 - January 28.
On the 11th day of the celebrations on Thursday, January 28 Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, bishop, diocese of Mangaluru, presided over the festive Eucharistic celebration. While Fr George D’Souza, rector, St Lawrence Minor Basilica, Fr Melwyn Roy Lobo, assistant parish priest and other priests from the diocese were the co-celebrants of the festive mass.

Mangaluru ,Jan 16: The Graduation Day of Father Muller Medical College was held on Saturday January 16 at Father Muller Convention Centre.
As many as 111 MBBS students received their graduation certificates during the ceremony.
Addressing the gathering, vice chancellor of Mangalore University Dr P Subrahmanya Yadapadithaya said, “I congratulate all the graduates. A doctor’s profession is one of the noblest professions in the world. Doctors are in the place of God for the poor, sick and destitute. You all need to have capacity and willingness to perform. Always respect your profession. I salute all the Covid warriors who stood firm during this critical situation. Now it is time to give something in return to the society through your profession.”
