Bluff • For much of the past year, when community leaders in San Juan County opened biweekly coronavirus update emails from the region’s health department, they were prepared for grim news.
New cases of the coronavirus were identified among San Juan’s 15,300 residents almost every day for 11 months as outbreaks swept through small Navajo Nation communities, a nursing home in Blanding and the county’s larger cities, often repeatedly. The county, which has Utah’s highest poverty rate, leads the state for per capita coronavirus cases since the pandemic began. And ....
