BEECH MOUNTAIN â The Beech Mountain Town Council provided an opt-out clause in its bear-resistant container ordinance and set a public hearing ahead of its decision to contract with a commercial trash pickup service. during its Tuesday, May 11, meeting.
Public comments included one submission from local resident Urs Gsteiger, who commended the council for addressing the difficult infrastructure challenges, while also voicing his concerns over the townâs âgenerousâ health insurance payments for dependents, the Lake Coffey water intake project, the dedicated EMS station, as well as the increase in town spending by 20 percent of the past year.
Once the eveningâs agenda was approved, the council promptly set a public hearing for its next meeting on June 8 to give citizens the opportunity to address the townâs budget before it is approved. BEECH MOUNTAIN â Beech Mountain Town Council discussed potential changes to town departments in order to better serve the townâs growing population during its Tuesday, Feb. 9 monthly meeting.
Public comments submitted to the council included one from local businessman Mike Boston, who expressed his concern over the way an employee at the townâs convenience center has been treated since he started enforcing the townâs new policy that requires people dropping off their trash to have a tag displayed in their vehicle in order to access the convenience center.
âWithin a total of five minutes apart, I witnessed the rudest behavior Iâd seen in quite a while. I asked (the employee), who was tearful/visibly upset, how often this happens, and he said many times a day,â Boston stated.
