Diners who head up to the second floor of The Front Yard at Ellis Island experience a one-month-only tiki bar filled with Polynesian decor, tropical bites, and rum-filled drinks. The restaurant converts into The Island at Ellis through July 4, sponsored by Bacardi.
The entire upstairs went through a decor change with tiki-themed curtains, alligator boats with flowers hanging from the ceiling, skulls on chandeliers, beach balls wrapped in rope, and more everywhere.
“We wanted to really deck out the space as much as possible,” says Christina Ellis, the director of marketing for Ellis Island. “We have been come so much fun decorating The Front Yard, just for holidays.”

Netflix Selects Recipients for U.K. Doc Talent Fund

Netflix has revealed the ten aspiring filmmaking teams from across the U.K. that it will fund as part of its inaugural Documentary Talent Fund.
The ten filmmakers will receive up to £40,000 in financing to create their own documentary short film between 8- to 12-minutes long, answering the brief: “Britain’s Not Boring And Here’s a Story.” A shortlist of 21 filmmaking teams were invited to pitch to Netflix, and a judging panel selected the ten winners.

The Detective & The Thief, which follows the hunt for the missing pets; Daisy Ifama,
Entrepreneurial spirit and a love of the Cayman Islands are just two of the common bonds between Krycel and J.D. Perkins.
Together, the couple has opened gyms and corporate wellness programs as well as restaurants focused on healthy foods and beverages. Their latest is Fit Juice Bar, which opened in Dallas last October.
J.D. grew up in Dallas and attended Skyline High School before a family move to Grand Prairie. Athletic scholarships took him to Tyler Junior College and Tarleton State University in Stephenville, then on to Lamar University in Beaumont, where he majored in exercise physiology and nutrition.
