Geraldine Dilschneider, July 6, 1931 - November 17, 2014. One thing I ask, only this I seek: to dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life Ps: 27.4. With her unshakeable faith Geraldine passed peacefully into God s care November 17, 2014. She valiantly endured her battle with cancer continually thinking of others, trying to make them laugh and always interested in how they were, not how she was. Geraldine s final days were spent with her children Gerald (Barb), Bev (Cory), Cheryl (Roger) and Bart (Ingrid). She will also be greatly missed by her Brother Harold (Mary) and sister Charmaine (Morley) as well as her five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Her good humour and faith-filled life blessed all who met her. We all thank and bless the attentive, professional care of Hospice House of Kelowna. Cremation is entrusted to Springfield Funeral services of Kelowna. A family service was conducted by the Most Reverend Bishop Eugene Cooney in Kelowna prior to crematio
A living document speaks to living waters
âThe Columbia River Watershed: Caring for Creation and the Common Good,â an international pastoral letter by the Catholic bishops of the Northwest, celebrates its 20th anniversary About 40% of all wheat produced in the United States is shipped in barges, pushed by tugboats, on the Columbia River to Portland, Vancouver, Kelso and Longview. It would take more than 500 trucks to transport the wheat a barge carries. Yet the dams that make the water route possible have devastated salmon runs on the Columbia. The Yakama people, who fished for centuries on the river, note that the United States signed treaties that promised fishing rights in perpetuity, rights that the dams make meaningless. The Catholic bishops, in writing the Columbia River pastoral letter, addressed this tragedy. (Courtesy Columbia River National Scenic Area)
