By Garreth MacNamee Monday 8 Feb 2021, 7:18 PM Feb 8th 2021, 7:18 PM 67,319 Views 45 Comments Image: Sasko Lazarov via RollingNews.ie Image: Sasko Lazarov via RollingNews.ie PUBLIC HEALTH OFFICIALS confirmed a further 829 cases of Covid-19 and six deaths in Ireland as Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn led this evening’s press briefing of the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) addressing the Covid-19 crisis.  This evening’s figures mean that there have now been a total of 204,397 cases of Covid-19 in Ireland, along with 3,687 deaths.

Source: Covid-19 Data Hub THERE ARE NOW 1,846 people with Covid-19 in hospital and 173 people in ICU.  HSE CEO Paul Reid said that “unfortunately” the hospital numbers continue to rise. Hospitalisation figures have more than tripled since the start of the month. “People are extremely sick with this virus. Despite some hopeful trends on transmission levels, it’s still hugely prevalent in your area. Please stick with us,” Reid said.  133 people were admitted to hospital in the past 24 hours and 105 people were discharged.
