Stackel announced his departure at the end of today’s broadcast saying, in part:
It’s really been an honor telling the Capital Region’s stories. The people here have been so good to me. And NewsChannel13 is a great place to work. Not everybody gets to go into the office excited about the day ahead, but I did. Everywhere I went around the Capital Region, I made a new friend. And I’ve made lifelong friendships here at the station. It’s just, the two am wake-up call and the six pm bedtime became too much. There are no good hours in the news business. And if I was going to make a move in my life, now’s the time to do it. I still love reporting. But I am extremely excited for this next chapter in my life.

Bayly, who has been chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering & Materials Science since 2008, was installed Oct. 28.

“It is fitting that Phil Bayly will be taking on the Hunter professorship. Like Lee Hunter, Professor Bayly’s work showcases the importance of creativity in engineering,” Chancellor Andrew D. Martin said. “This creativity will certainly revolutionize the way society understands and treats head trauma.
