Nicholaus Geiser appointed as Biloxi Fire Chief-WXXV 25

In the same room on July 6 th, former Biloxi Fire Chief Joe Boney announced his retirement from the department after 38 years of serving. The reigns of chief are passed to Nicholaus Geiser, a 17-year veteran of the Biloxi Fire Department who previously served as deputy chief of management. As he accepted the appointment, Chief Geiser had his parents, wife, and two children with him, honoring his accomplishment. “We made great strides with the previous administration. I hope to continue the work and effort that they had put in which I was apart of that. There’s some new things that I would like to implement, get more involved with the community, better recruitment, those sorts of things that we’re really hoping to get rolling right here at the get-go.”

City of Biloxi votes to not rehire Fire Chief Boney

WXXV News 25 July 20, 2021 The City of Biloxi has voted not to rehire Fire Chief Joe Boney who has been fire chief the past eight years. Biloxi City Council members voted 4-3 Tuesday against keeping Joe Boney on the job. He has worked 37 years for the Biloxi Fire Department. Boney announced July 6 th that he intended to resign at the end of the year.  He said he had heard some council members did not intend to keep him as chief for this four-year term. The city attorney says Boney can work up to 90 more days while the mayor finds a new nominee for fire chief.

Biloxi Fire Chief Joe Boney submits letter of intent to retire

WXXV News 25 July 6, 2021 Tonight, Chief Boney made his final decision and put those rumors to rest. After 37 years serving with the Biloxi Fire Department, Fire Chief Joe Boney announces his retirement from the department. During a Biloxi City Hall meeting, Chief Boney notified the public he submitted a letter of intent to retire, this before the council went into executive session to discuss personnel issues. “A lot of deliberation talking with my family and we chose this as the best course of action. I’m ready to move on.” After days of rumors circulating that four Biloxi Council members were not going to reappoint Fire Chief Boney, he decided retiring was the best decision for him and his family. “If some of the council does not have faith in me, I don’t want to be where I don’t have that faith. I have to work on that. I have to have that.”
