Xi hails everlasting friendship on 46th anniversary of PH-China ties Jun 9, 2021 5:59 PM PHT On the 46th year celebrating diplomatic ties between the Philippines and China, Chinese President Xi Jinping hailed the “everlasting friendship” of the two countries and vowed to further strengthen relations between Manila and Beijing.  Xi gave these assurances in a letter to Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, under whose administration ties between the Philippines and China were seen to have entered a “golden age.”   “I attach great significance to the development of China-Philippine relations and stand ready to work with you in guiding our bilateral relations to move forward in a sustained and steady manner…. May the everlasting friendship between our two peoples grow from generation to generation,” Xi wrote Duterte on Wednesday, June 9.

PH vessels shadowed, challenged by Chinese coast guard in Zambales May 12, 2021 5:43 PM PHT Jairo Bolledo The National Task Force for the West Philippine Sea (NTF-WPS) reported Wednesday, May 12, that Chinese coast guard ships shadowed and challenged the vessels of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) near the Bajo de Masinloc in Zambales. This incident which happened on May 4 was among the series of encounters between the two countries inside the West Philippine Sea. On 4 May 2021, PCG BRP Sindangan, travelling with BFAR MCS 3005, was illegally shadowed by a CCG vessel and issued two (2) radio challenges while approaching BdM (Bajo de Masinloc), the NTF-WPS said in a statement.

Philippines shoos away Chinese ships in Sabina Shoal May 5, 2021 11:26 AM PHT Jairo Bolledo Philippine ships shooed away Chinese maritime militias (CMM) vessels in Sabina (Escoda) Shoal near Palawan in the West Philippine Sea on at least two occasions in late April. National Task Force for the West Philippine Sea (NTF-WPS) reported late night Tuesday, May 4, that a Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) ship two Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) vessels conducted maritime patrols in Sabina Shoal, located 130 nautical miles west of Puerto Princesa, Palawan, on April 27. When the Philippine ships arrived in the shoal, they spotted seven CMM ships moored in stationary linear formation. Philippine authorities issued a series of challenges to warn the Chinese ships that were illegally roaming Philippine waters.
