Brouillette Manor In Tecumseh To Be Rebuilt

Brouillette Manor in Tecumseh will be getting a new home. Tuesday evening, town council approved the site plan control agreement for the phased development of a new 58,211 square feet, 96 bed long term care facility and demolition of the existing facility on Brouillette Court. Construction will be done in two phases.  Phase one will see the construction of a new one-storey,45,574 square foot, 64-bed, long-term care facility to the immediate west of the existing long-term care facility located on the property. Windsor-Essex reports 216 new cases as stay-home order takes effect

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit reported 216 new cases and four new deaths on Thursday. Dr. Wajid Ahmed, medical officer of health with the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (WECHU), said there have been four additional deaths of seniors in the region. Within Windsor-Essex, about 2,800 people have active COVID-19 cases. There are 111 people in hospital  18 of them are in ICU, and an additional 196 suspected cases are in hospital.

WECHU CEO Theresa Marentette said 14 of those who died recently had lived in seniors homes.  Nearly half the facilities in the region  21 homes remain in outbreak and there are hundreds of COVID-19 cases among residents and staff. Meanwhile, efforts to vaccinate residents, staff and essential caregivers in retirement homes are ongoing, Marentette said. After Tuesday, vaccinations at 13 of the region s 24 homes are expected to be complete, she said.
