Inspirational Islanders: Great Kills resident spends 26 years helping others find jobs

STATEN ISLAND NY. –– “It’s very satisfying seeing others do good because of the help you gave them.”
Arthur Merlino, 78, has volunteered at the St. Clare’s Employment Group for the past 26 years.
Backed by St. Clare’s and their pastor Rev. Arthur Mastrolia, Merlino touches the lives of Staten Islanders who are looking for employment.
Arthur worked for the New York State Department of Labor for 49 years, retiring in 2011.
“I was in the Division of Employment Services that had to do more with providing employment assistance to the unemployed,” said Merlino who started as a labor service representative and retired in a management position.
