The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) has announced the gift of nine captivating works on paper created with paint, graphite and colored pencils by the iconic African American artist Bill Traylor. This generous donation is from the collection of B.K. Fulton and Jackie Stone.

.-The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts announced today the gift of nine captivating works on paper created with paint, graphite and colored pencils by the iconic African American artist Bill Traylor. This generous donation is from the collection of B.K. Fulton and Jackie Stone.
These two groups of artworks are significant additions to VMFAs collection, said Alex Nyerges, VMFAs Director and CEO. We are striving to expand the museums collection of art by African Americans, and Traylors work documents the Black experience in the South. We are appreciative of these invaluable additions.

.-The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts announced their recent acquisition of the Wisteria Glycines Choker designed by Philippe Wolfers (18581929). The choker is one of only 131 unique pieces designed by the renowned Belgian jeweler.
The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts has the finest collection of European Art Nouveau decorative arts in the United States, said Alex Nyerges, VMFAs Director and CEO. This is one of the most exquisite examples of Art Nouveau jewelry in the museums collection a rare find amongst Wolfers existing creations.
Wisteria âGlycinesâ Choker designed by Philippe Wolfers (1858â1929). The choker is one of only 131 unique pieces designed by the renowned Belgian jeweler.Â

Carved, iridescent tourmaline, which display green and pink hues in singular stones, as well as pastel colored, translucent carved opals are used to create delicate, floral swags. The green and purple enamel leaf clusters complement the pale colors of the wisteria.
