Meanwhile, the district says the chant merely amounts to a daily reminder of the school s still-ongoing mask-wearing guidelines Author: Sharon Ko Updated: 11:31 PM CDT April 8, 2021 SAN ANTONIO A local middle school is calling a daily chant promoting mask-wearing an encouragement, while some parents are calling it an indoctrination of their children.  One parent who wanted to remain anonymous shared a letter she sent to Northeast ISD leaders to express her concerns over the chant at Bradley Middle School. She doesn’t have children who attend there, but said her friend s children go to the school.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools had 544 employees and 319 students test positive for COVID-19 first semester, based on the latest report presented Tuesday. CMS started reporting student and staff cases in early October as part of a metrics report designed to show whether it s safe for students to attend in-person classes. Students began their second semester in all-remote mode Tuesday. The latest report covered winter break, with cases reported between Dec. 19 and Jan. 3. Chief School Performance Officer Kathy Elling said student cases were based on parents reporting children s illness to their schools.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools The Charlotte-Mecklenburg school board voted 8-1 Tuesday to keep all students out of classrooms until Jan. 19 including prekindergarteners and special education students who had been scheduled to return in person on Jan. 5. Superintendent Earnest Winston cited rising COVID-19 numbers in Mecklenburg County and a concern that things could get worse after holiday gatherings. The two-week return to remote instruction for all students is designed to provide time to see whether numbers rise. Based on our experience in the weeks following Thanksgiving, we believe the best course of action during the first two weeks following winter break is to have all our students learn in a remote setting, Winston told the board.

Mecklenburg County Public Health officials say they notified CMS on Thursday, December 17th that several positive coronavirus cases linked to Bradley Middle School are being considered a cluster. Officials say thanks to contact tracing and a thorough investigation this is the first identified cluster in a CMS facility, and all impacted students and staff have been notified. No impacted students or staff have been back in the building since they were all notified last week, and enhanced cleaning and sanitation procedures have been implemented, officials say.

The district praised its contact tracing process for getting all impacted students and staff members out of the building since being notified of the exposure.
