By the end of his first year in office, he had received hundreds of letters of appreciation from all over Britain. But before he took up the pioneering role in City Hall, he had an extraordinary journey to the world of politics.

Now in its fifth year, The Engineer’s Collaborate To Innovate awards (C2I) was established to uncover and celebrate great examples of technology-led engineering collaboration across a range of different disciplines and sectors. It’s fair to say that it’s more than delivered on this vision, and has regularly uncovered a fresh pipeline of innovations, showcasing the UK’s strength and breadth in cross-disciplinary collaboration, and providing plenty of reasons to optimistic about the future of UK engineering.

APPLICATIONS are now open for Chain Reactions, a project run by Ilkley Literature Festival Fringe. Chain Reactions is a collaborative, cross-artform digital project that encourages participants to get creative and to inspire others. There are three stages to the project: Stage 1 – Five new pieces of work will be commissioned across a range of artforms, which will be made available to view online. Stage 2 – People living across the Yorkshire region will be invited to respond to work featured in Stage 1, using a different artform than the original piece. Stage 3 – The chain reaction will continue and people living across the Yorkshire region will be encouraged to respond to works produced in Stage 2.
