AS CORONAVIRUS restrictions begin to ease, pubs, bars and restaurants across the country are looking forward to opening their doors again next week. After a turbulent year for the industry amid the pandemic, outdoor hospitality can re-open from Monday, as part of the Government s roadmap out of lockdown. There have been no changes to social contact rules as of yet, and outdoor gatherings must still be limited to six people or two households, but the new rules will give many something to look forward to. Getting back to some sense of normality will be a big deal for pubs in the Bradford district, some have said, but some establishments will be staying shut until we reach step three of the roadmap - from 17 May - when indoor hospitality is expected to resume.
The site of the former Bradford Arms pub PLANS to build a restaurant on the site of a recently demolished pub have been submitted to Bradford Council. The former site of the Bradford Arms on Bowling Back Lane is the subject of a new planning application by Ikraam Hussain. It calls for a 72 square metre shipping container to be installed on the site, and for this container to operate as a drive thru restaurant. There would also be parking for three cars in front of the restaurant. The application says the new business would create three full time jobs. Bradford Council is expected to make a decision on the application early next month.
