Upper Arlington s wind-energy deal latest in series of environmental sustainability initiatives ThisWeek group The city of Upper Arlington has completed the latest step in its effort to achieve  zero waste, zero pollution and zero emissions by 2030. City Manager Steve Schoeny authorized the city to enter into a three-year contract Jan. 13 with Baltimore-based Constellation NewEnergy Inc., a subsidiary of Exelon Corp., to purchase renewable energy certificates (RECs) to meet 100% of the city s annual energy supply. The switch became effective Feb. 11.  RECs, according to the federal Environmental Protection Agency, are a market-based instrument that represents the property rights to the environmental, social and other non-power attributes of renewable electricity generation. Conservation Mini-Grants Program – United States 90SHARES Deadline: 28-Feb-21 Franklin Soil and Water’s annual Conservation Mini-Grant program continues in its eighth year by offering up to $2000 to three non-profits that demonstrate the need and ability to carry out on-the-ground conservation projects. Franklin Soil and Water’s Conservation Fund is a pool of fees and proceeds originating from donations and events including the Annual Meeting and Tree Sale. This fund supports their Mini-Grant program and allows the District to support partner programming and projects throughout the year. Nearly 30 organizations have been awarded full or partial funding since 2013. This year brings two new announcements:
