A green bridge between the inner-Brisbane suburbs would reduce congestion to the CBD and be used heavily by pedestrians and cyclists, one of Australia’s leading urban planning agencies says.

Protesters fighting to stop the destruction of the site, also called Djaki Kundu, issued a call-out for support on social media on Sunday night saying they had not yet been given word the site would remain untouched on Monday, May 10. We hope that DTMR are leaving their decision until the last minute just to annoy us, however we can t be sure they are not intending to move in with their bulldozers, a post on the Kabi Dreaming Facebook page said.

Laboratories testing asphalt, a key ingredient in surfacing roads, have been falsifying results of mixtures made at plants to inflate their apparent quality.
The manipulation of figures can affect aspects such as the strength of the road-surfacing material and raises the risk of taxpayer-funded roads deteriorating more quickly than expected, industry sources say.
Industry insiders say some tests for asphalt quality have been manipulated.Â

Testing is often done in-house and pressure to change results exists. That is because clients can hit suppliers with financial penalties or even demand a new batch if asphalt fails to meet specifications.

Brisbane City Council will review the fine print of its Go Between Bridge toll credit scheme after residents found even utes and vans being used in a private capacity were being excluded despite the council’s insistence otherwise.
The subsidy was rolled out alongside the closure of nearby Victoria Bridge to general traffic in late January as part of the $1.2 billion Brisbane Metro project to help residents south of the CBD with the potential increased cost of crossing the river.
