MPG Meet the Producer: Fiona Cruickshank

Audio Media International spoke with the Music Producers Guild (MPG) to highlight the great work that producers are doing and how they’ve coped with the challenges of the last year. Here we catch up with Fiona Cruickshank, freelance engineer and producer.
Based in London, Cruickshank worked in-house at AIR Studios for 11 years before joining AIR Management in 2018 and is now freelance, working across a range of major studios. As well as engineering and mixing, Cruickshank also works in classical and score editing, having worked on many high-profile projects including everything from The Grand Budapest Hotel to the Bowie biopic Stardust. Concern over shinty TV coverage as fixtures switch faces opposition

Some of shinty’s showpiece cup finals could be missing from TV screens this year with a move to shift the fixtures from traditional Saturday starts facing opposition.
It is understood BBC Scotland and BBC Alba have asked to switch matches to Friday nights or Sundays as they would clash with football coverage.
Shinty’s governing body the Camanachd Association, is consulting clubs on the possible change amid concern the sport could lose vital broadcasting money and exposure if agreement cannot be reached.
Abbey Road Studios launches International Women’s Day Festival

Abbey Road Studios has announced a programme of masterclasses and mentorship sessions to coincide with International Women’s Day and address the gender imbalance that exists in the industry.
The Equalise programme is intended to highlight the fact that less than five per cent of music producers and engineers are women. Running from March 1-8 (International Women’s Day is March 8), the programme pledges to provide the tools, knowledge and support to inspire and empower more women to join the industry.
As part of the initiative, a raft of leading producers and engineers will be taking part in masterclass, panel sessions and one-to-one mentoring opportunities throughout the week.
