CORONADO
The sun had yet to rise Saturday when Gloria Todd Collett began arranging lawn chairs and blankets at the corner of Orange Avenue and First Street, the epicenter of Coronado’s Independence Day Parade.
The beloved procession was cancelled last summer for the first time in its 72-year history due to the pandemic. But it was revived for this year’s Fourth of July weekend, and Collet and friends weren’t going to miss their tradition of mixing along the parade route.
“The people include my mom, my three kids, my friend Amy, her three kids and her parents,” Collett said, using her fingers to tick off the names.

Even after an inaugural home victory over the Portland Thunder last week, it just seems like the LA KISS have yet to be tested. Their first two wins have been against opponents who have had little experience in a different style of football, and many of the players know that most of these games against formidable opponents have to be earned.
When you play against a team like Cleveland, they don t make mistakes, wide receiver Samie Parker said. They came in 3-0 for a reason and they were ready for us. If we were able to keep the ball in front of us, play our game and use our experience, we knew that there would have been chances that we could have hung at the end of the game.
We wish him, his family and friends every success with their fundraising efforts which will make such a difference to his life and help him with the challenges he faces.
The family is supported by children’s charity Tree of Hope which is also a named charity partner of the Marvel Superhero Series for a third year running, helps families fundraise for children like Beau with healthcare needs and provides charity status to benefit from gift aid, corporate support whilst also providing donor reassurance.
Ms Shaw said: We visited a Supporting Paws dog and it was amazing to see Beau with him – Beau was so calm and happy, it was wonderful to see him so content.

Thursday evening’s playoff game between the Spokane Shock and Chicago Rush was a tale of two different halves. The first half was a gritty half, with defenses stepping up and quarterbacks getting thrown around like ragdolls. On the flip side, the second half was an offensive shootout, where scoring was effortless and the scoreboard was lighting up like a pinball machine. In the end, it was the Shock who triumphed over the gutsy Rush by a score of 69-47, not at all indicative of how close the game really was.
The first half of action was filled with huge defensive plays. After trading opening possession touchdowns, quarterback Erik Meyer was crushed from behind and fumbled the football. Chicago recovered and scored, taking a 13-7 lead. Spokane would get a chance to retake the lead later after Rush QB Luke Drone was intercepted by Terrance Sanders. But once again, Chicago’s defense held strong and Spokane turned the ball over on downs. With
