Gary R. Fellows, 68, of Brilliant, OH, passed away Monday April 26, 2021 at Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville, OH.
He was born January 6, 1953 in Wheeling, WV, a son of the late Charles and Donna (Dean) Fellows. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Charlotte Guzzie.
Gary retired in 2020 from Finley Fire Equipment where he was a Sales Rep. and he was a member of the Crossroads Christian Church.
Gary was a loving husband, father, grandfather and mentor to many. His love for the fire service led him to be compassionate fire fighter, instructor and mentor. He dedicated over 50 years to the community by serving as a member of both the New Alexandria and Brilliant Fire Department. Over the years he has served every office, including fire chief, became an instructor and continued to dedicate his time to the fire service. He never stopped learning and giving to others. In 2017 he received the Ohio Fire Educator Lifetime A ....

Firms make bids for creating new website for Northfield Village

NORTHFIELD – After hearing presentations Jan. 13 from two website design and management companies, village officials have set a work session for Jan. 27 at 7 p.m. to discuss the proposals for launching a new website.
Law Director Brad Bryan called the city’s current website “functioning and bare bones.” He added, “The former website was old and obsolete, and the village has decided not to renew its contract with the former website designer/administrator.”
The former designer/administrator offered to charge $11,500 to build a new website, plus $225 per month for administration. “The mayor decided not to move forward with that offer and to look for another company,” Bryan said. ....

Northfield OKs $2.58 million budget for first 3 months of 2021, considers fire truck purchase

NORTHFIELD – Temporary appropriations for the first quarter of 2021 are in place after Village Council approved them Dec. 9. The figures are $1.64 million in the general fund and $2.58 million in all funds.
The appropriations cover anticipated expenditures through March 31, 2021, and Council must adopt permanent appropriations for the remainder of the year by that date.
Major expenditures in the general fund are anticipated to be as follows: police department, $415,000; service department, $300,000;contributions, $250,000; general government, $125,000; law department, $38,000; finance department, $31,000; mayor’s court, $21,000; mayor’s office, $11,000; and Council, $10,000.
Figures for other funds are set as follows: street construction and maintenance, $350,000; fire levy, $325,000; sewer, $130,000; police pension, $55,000; Northfield Park TIF, $50,000; ....
