CHATHAM, Va. â Chatham Rescue Squad has finally been granted a well-deserved upgrade.
Exactly one year ago, Chatham Rescue Squad s fleet ran a 2005 ambulance and responded to 20 percent of its calls. Today, the agency responds to more than 80 percent of its calls and can boast a brand-new, state-of-the-art ambulance.
The new ambulance is a Ford F-550, the majority of which was purchased by Pittsylvania County with Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act funding. It was the second of four county ambulances bought with this fund, the first being awarded to Mt. Hermon. It s ours to use for the life of the truck, Chatham Rescue Squad Cpt.
