Painting at the end of the family dinner table and often not starting work until the children were in bed at 9pm, Therese Shanley has created a wonderful array of work for her first major solo exhibition.
Called
From Tullamore to Finch Street, the show at the Wangaratta Art Gallery reflects a crossover between her childhood and her present day.
A Basket of Joy (detail), by Therese Shanley, depicts the artist and her daughter on a pushbike, riding past their home in Beechworth. The flowers in the basket are a nod to her late mother.
