A man who was a suspect in a home invasion was shot when he was confronted by officers, according to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office. A 9-1-1 call was made around 9:30 p.m. Thursday about an unknown male cutting himself in a driveway near CR 374 and Orchard Lane. When deputies arrived, they discovered the man had committed a home invasion at the house, reports said. The suspect had fled the scene before deputies arrived, so the Van Buren County Canine Unit and a Paw Paw Police officer tracked the subject, reports said.

The home owners did not know the subject, and called to report the incident that was taking place.  Prior to arrival by police, the subject left the scene on foot.
