Carnival ride approved for Wayne County

Updated: 5:24 PM EDT May 14, 2021 HAWLEY, Pa. If you drive along Route 6 near Hawley, you may have spotted concession stands from Carachilo Concessions serving up all your carnival favorites. Leon Carachilo owns the business and says last summer was hard with no carnivals. Jim Shook owns the property and gave the Carachilo s permission to help salvage what is usually their busiest time of year. We never thought it would be as good as it got last summer, and it was good. I mean, it was alright. We were out. We got to pay our bills. We got to work. It wasn t as good as the fairs, but it was still good, very good, and I m grateful for, said Carachilo.

A brief history of Monroe County | Something to Think About Debbie Kulick For those who were living in Monroe County in 2011, you may well recall the 175th Anniversary of the county date of creation.  The celebration was not as grandiose as that of the Sesquicentennial (150th), but it did have a significant amount of history shared by many local historians. The following county and township history was provided by Jeffrey L. Wright, Esq. The history of Monroe County, which was formed on April 1, 1836 from parts of Pike and Northampton Counties, is rich and certainly helps us understand much of the landscape we have today.

Leaving a legacy By Kevin Mertens - Staff Writer | Jan 24, 2021 In 1993, Earl Kiehm and his granddaughter Sharon took a tour of the barns Earl had built back in the 1920s and 1930s. Later on a calendar would be published which featured information and pictures about the barns they visited that day. Earl also constructed houses and many other farm buildings. He was a craftsman who designed and built cupboards, cradles, cedar chests along with a multitude of games and craft projects. Many of the barns are still standing today. Barns. They dot the countryside of rural America. Barns, it could be argued, were probably the second most important building on a farm site, second only to a house. Perhaps some people might argue a barn was more important than the house.
