Sepulveda was shot multiple times in the line of duty while responding to a call for a burglary. Wednesday was a day to honor the sergeant’s recovery and the quick life-saving actions by his partner along with those on the hospital staff.

Sgt. Jose C. Sepulveda was called to the scene for suspicious activity at the Sol Apartments on Feb. 3, located in the 6900 block of I-10. “We got a call for suspicious people at the complex. In route there, they advised it could possibly be burglars in action,” Sgt. Sepulveda said. As the sergeant approached a car with three suspects inside, it was just moments later when he got into a physical struggle with the driver.

Feb 4, 2021 A Balcones Heights police officer was wounded this afternoon after being shot while investigating suspicious people at the SOL Apartments near the I-10 and 410 Interchange. Multiple gunshots were fired at the officer who was wounded in the neck, shoulder and arm. Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar credited a second officer with saving the sergeant s life by getting him to a hospital. The suspects fled in a white Ford extended cab pickup which has been found. Salazar is encouraging two suspects to surrender. It s believed one of them was shot. The wounded officer, Balcones Heights Mayor Suzanne de Leon asked for prayers.
