Alpena
The Alpena Municipal Council approved a contract with Donald Gilmet of Gilmet Construction Services. It also approved a budget amendment request to increase the capital vehicles account for the installation of specialized equipment for a police patrol vehicle in the amount of $11,751.
It also approved a pair of events for this year. Art on the Bay is to be held July 14-18 and the 150th Anniversary Celebration Block Party to be held at St.
Paul Lutheran Church on June 20.
Council went into closed session, but no action was taken when the open session resumed.
Alpena Township
The Alpena Township Board of Trustees received an economic development report from Mike Mahler, economic development director for Target Alpena. He informed the board on current and upcoming projects in the community.

SPRINGFIELD John Gluth, 90, of Springfield, died on January 26, 2021, at the Sleepy Eye Medical Center in Sleepy Eye.
Visitation will be on Saturday, February 6, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield. Due to Covid 19, visitation will be a “walk through” visitation to avoid congregating or gathering inside the building. All who attend are asked to wear masks and maintain social distancing guidelines.
Service will be held at the St. Paul Lutheran Church on Saturday at 11 a.m.
Interment will be at the Springfield City Cemetery at a later date.
Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield.
Rev. Hyle R. Anderson
Rev. Hyle R. Anderson, age 72, passed away after a long bout with Interstitial Lung Disease, related to Rheumatoid Arthritis. The funeral service will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on January 29th at 11:00 a.m., with LCMS District President Scott Sailer officiating. Viewing will be January 28th from 3:00 to 7:00 with a prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m., at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home in Aberdeen, SD. Following the funeral service at St. Paul’s, the casket will be transported to Cease Funeral Home in Bemidji, MN. There will also be a service held at Trinity Lutheran Church Bemidji, MN, on February 1st, 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place immediately after the service at Moose Creek Cemetery, rural Shevlin, MN.
