During the meeting of the Concordia Board of Aldermen on Monday, May 3, aldermen approved an ordinance designating a portion of the capital-improvement tax passed by voters in April for improvements at Edwin A. Pape Lake.
According to unofficial minutes from the meeting, the board approved the request from Police Chief Paul Mapes to purchase a pack of six Byma CO2 less-than-lethal weapons for $3,500. These will replace the police force’s TASERs.
Aldermen also gave the green light to a recommendation for a hydraulic study and ditch assessment at Concordia (Southside) Park for $6,500.
In addition, aldermen approved an ordinance authorizing a full-service asset-management program for work and fees for the eight-cell contact basins at the water treatment facility. The cost will be $59,175 per year for the first five years. Beginning year six, the cost lowers to $10,911 annually.
