Halton s parks have never been so busy

Public parks, play areas and recreation spaces are ready for the lighter nights and outdoor get togethers following the easing of lockdown restrictions. Staff at Halton Borough Council have been working hard during winter and early spring in the parks and green spaces, getting areas ready for spring and summer. Spring favourites like the roadside daffodils and other planting in the parks are now in bloom and more than 1,800 trees have been planted so far this year. Bowling greens and tennis courts are now open for use and the children’s play areas are regularly inspected to make sure the equipment is suitable to use with some items being repaired and play surfaces having a spring clean.

THREE parks in Runcorn and Widnes have been honoured with the Green Flag Award. Victoria Park, Hale Park and Runcorn Hill Park have all been recognised as part of the Keep Britain Tidy scheme. And all three are now proudly displaying their green flags, alongside new Union flags and the Halton Coat of Arms. Halton Borough Council’s parks manager Paul Boardman, said: It has been encouraging to see our parks so well used during the past 12 months, and the awards are a reflection on the hard work by our staff which goes in to maintaining our open spaces on a daily basis.
