Lifeline cash aid for vital museums and music venues in Scotland

CASH to the tune of more than £7 million is to be drummed out across “as many grassroots music venues and independent museums as possible”. Cultural sites at risk of closure due to coronavirus are to receive a share of the pot in the new year. Making the announcement today, Scottish Culture Secretary Fiona Hyslop said: “Culture and heritage are vitally important to all of our lives in Scotland, at this time more than ever.” The next phase of Holyrood’s Grassroots Music Venue Stabilisation Fund will provide £4m to live music venues that were financially sustainable before the pandemic in a bid to prevent their permanent closure and keep them stable until April.
