Victorville Daily Press
Eight people in the High Desert were killed in crashes over the weekend, including a hit-and-run in Lucerne Valley that killed three girls.
A driver and passenger in the truck reportedly stopped but didn’t call 911 before fleeing from the truck, the Daily Press previously reported.
A California Highway Patrol spokesperson did not give further information about the crash or possible suspects on Tuesday.
A GoFundMe set up to help the families of the girls garnered nearly $15,000 of a $50,000 goal by Wednesday afternoon.
Earlier Saturday morning, a teenager was killed in Lucerne Valley after a crash between a passenger vehicle and a “tractor/trailer combination” shortly before 8 a.m. on State Route 247, north of Lake Street, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said.
Barstow Community Hospital to hold one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine clinic Friday
Barstow Community Hospital is scheduled to offer another free drive-up COVID-19 vaccination clinic by appointment only.
At the clinic, hospital nurses will provide the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday in the hospital’s east parking lot, 820 E. Mountain View Street.
The hospital has been allocated a limited number of vaccines for area residents who are 18 years of age or older, so appointments are issued on a first-come, first-served basis, officials said.
Those seeking the COVID-19 vaccination should enter the BCH campus at the Mountain View Street entrance and proceed to follow the driveway around to the back of the hospital.
