Former San Antonio Mayor Julián Castro has officially voiced support for Prop B, which would, in short, allow officers who have committed misconduct to be permanently fired.
On Monday, April 12, a pre-recorded video of Castro was shared by the Fix SAPD social media channels. Though Castro gave credit and acknowledged the work of law enforcement, the former secretary of HUD also called for police officers to be held accountable when necessary.
“Like you, I have tremendous respect for our men and women of law enforcement,” said the San Antonio native. “I also believe that you and your family - that all of us - deserve accountability when bad officers cross the line.”

The slate of candidates for San Antonio mayor and the city’s 10 council seats on the May 1 ballot is set.
After Friday’s deadline for filing, city records showed 81 people are running for a spot on the City Council in a race defined by the human and economic toll inflicted on the city by COVID-19 as well as a reckoning over the power of the San Antonio Police union in the wake of a public demand for law enforcement reform.
