Barrasso Says $15 Minimum Wage Is A Job Killer Barrasso, at a Wednesday news conference in Washington D.C., cited a recent Congressional Budget Office report that said the increase in the minimum wage would lead to the loss of 1.4 million jobs. Democrats argue that the increase is needed to provide low-wage workers with enough money to have a living wage. The increase in the minimum wage is part of a $1.9 million dollar COVID-19 stimulus page that is pending in Congress. The U.S. Bureau of Land Management said the finalized rule change will not only give the federal government the ability to grant relief on royalties and other fees for the non-energy mineral producers, but the revisions will also âremove unnecessary and overly burdensome requirementsâ to bolster trona mining in the U.S. The royalty rate for federal soda ash and sodium bicarbonate leases will be reduced from 6% to 2% once the new rule goes into effect on Jan. 1. ....
