ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – Margaret Johnson has announced her candidacy for Ithaca Town Board.
She’s running for one of two seats that will be vacated at the end of the year.
Johnson notes that she hopes to follow in the footsteps of Tee-Ann Hunter and maintain an important connection between the Town and the Cayuga Lake Watershed Inter-municipal Organization.
She’s worked in the offices of two State Assemblymembers, including Barbara Lifton, for whom she performed constituent services and legislative research in Ithaca. Tags:

ITHACA, NY The Planning and Economic Development Committee (PEDC) had a lengthy discussion before narrowly approving the Disposition and Development Agreement (DDA) for the Green Street Garage Urban Renewal Project with a 3-2 vote. The DDA will move on to Common Council for approval.
The DDA provides for the disposition and development of the site currently owned by the city and authorized to be transferred to the Ithaca Urban Renewal Agency (IURA) to âimplement an urban renewal project in accordance with all applicable laws,â according to the agreement. The developer is then bound by the terms and conditions set forth in the agreement.
Member-Filed Resolution Changes Composition of Tompkins County Industrial Development Agency to Include a Local Labor Representative.
A resolution to change the composition of Tompkins County Industrial Development Agency (IDA) member-filed by Legislator Anna Kelles (D-Ithaca) passed unanimously at the Dec.15 County Legislature meeting.Â
Kelles referenced the outpouring of interest from the public in this action.
âThis is to uphold and expand the intention of the IDA to create local jobs,â she said.Â
Legislator Anne Koreman stated, âA silver lining to this pandemic is it has put everything back on the table. Think, âwhat if we were starting the IDA now,â it would make perfect sense for labor to have a seat at the table.â Union leaders and public advocates for local labor joined privilege of the floor to express their support for the resolution.
