Santa Barbara County Faces Pandemic of the Unvaccinated With Surge of Novel Coronavirus Cases | Coronavirus Crisis

That means more than five out of every 100 people who get tested have a positive result. Public Health Director Van Do-Reynoso said the county and its community partners are finding one-on-one conversations to be the most effective way to convince people to get vaccinated for COVID-19. Many people who have not been vaccinated yet have concerns about the safety of the vaccines or have been too busy to get one, public health officials said, while others are categorically against vaccination.  (Screenshot via Santa Barbara County Public Health Department COVID-19 Briefing) “As you can see, our numbers are increasing and increasing in a very rapid manner in the span of two weeks,” Do-Reynoso said.

Santa Barbara public health recommends masks indoors due to rising Delta variant cases

KEYT SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Santa Barbara County public health officials announced updated mask guidance Monday as more cases of the COVID-19 Delta variant are reported across the state. The public health department is now recommending all Santa Barbara County residents, regardless of vaccination status, to wear masks while indoors. The decision comes following similar new guidelines announced by Ventura and Los Angeles counties. Los Angeles County has since updated this recommendation to a mandate. The public health department says the COVID-19 Delta variant is significantly more transmissible than the original coronavirus strain. The variant accounts for more than half of new infections throughout the country.
